Zetans were designed by Adam Adamowicz for Fallout 3, inspired by the UFO lore from previous Fallout media. Like protectrons, the design of Zetans strongly evokes "Martian"-adjacent pulp science fiction films of the 20th century.

This is likely why their suits in Fallout 3 resemble tinfoil. The sci-fi trend of greys in shiny suits may have been inspired by a story related to the legend of Roswell, wherein the government allegedly confiscated a sheet-like alien metal from a farmer. In supposed photographs of the material, it resembles tinfoil.

The Fallout 4 revision of the Zetan design gives them a bulky harness with a large, rigid metal base for their helmets, and an apparent respiratory apparatus on the neck. The design closely resembles the uniforms worn by martian soldiers in the 1996 film Mars Attacks!, which is itself a retro pastiche of pulpy alien B-movies.

The name Zetans is based on Zeta Reticulans, a designation commonly used by sincere extraterrestrial theorists for "short greys," the stereotypical stock aliens typically invoked in pop culture depictions. Most people who report being abducted by aliens identify or describe their tormentors as short greys.

The modern conception of flying saucers primarily emerged in America in the wake of World War II. Early sightings were strongly correlated with sites of nuclear experimentation or nuclear power. These reports were celebrated among science fiction enthusiasts, who began forming "flying saucer clubs" as early as the 1930s.

The topic of aliens saw an explosion of popular interest after the 1947 Roswell Incident, when nationwide media published sensational reports of a flying saucer having supposedly crashed in New Mexico. The legend of the "Men in Black" may stem from unconfirmed reports of government agents intimidating civilians in the wake of the Roswell Incident.

The conception of Men in Black as disguised aliens was codified and popularized by the 1975 book The Mothman Prophecies. In Fallout 76, the Emissary is a character who fits the description of a Man in Black. The Emissary holds a key to one of the domes at Black Mountain Ordnance Works, which is based on the "TNT Area" north of Point Pleasant where the Mothman was first seen. There were many reported sightings of Mothman and UFOs at that site throughout 1967. Conspiratorial Mothman-UFO folklore often asserts the dome-vaults of the TNT Area to contain government secrets, which is thoroughly reflected in the game.

The popularization of the short grey abduction scenario is often attributed to the story of Betty and Barney Hill, who reported being abducted in 1961, and provided vivid, evocative testimonies under hypnotic regression. They also drew star maps which were likened to Zeta Reticuli, hence the name Zeta Reticulans. Skeptics criticize hypnotic regression as a technique and hold that the supposed star maps do not meaningfully depict Zeta Reticuli.

Theorists (conspiratorial, Fortean, and skeptical alike) often connect the modern alien abduction scenario to historic reports of supernatural encounters, especially European fairies, and other similarly-psychedelic "trickster" beings throughout the history of folklore.

1960’s Stuff

Betty LOVES to go get fries and milkshake at a diner and just talk to Darry for hours if they feel like it

Darry quickly memorized Betty’s favorite drinks and will have one for her before she can even think about going to the bar when they do go out, but neither of them are big into going out to bars

Darry offers to take her out dancing. This is when he finds out that Betty simply… can’t dance. She tries so hard 😂 but her body just doesn’t do the movements she’s wanting it to do. Darry however is a great dancer, so he eventually figures out how to lead her 😂 He figures out how to avoid getting his toes stepped on

Darry isn’t that big into movies, but if there’s a movie that Betty is really interested in seeing, they’ll go to the drive in and have a couple drinks and enjoy the peace and quiet 😂

Cooking dates at home those two will just cook together in the kitchen and it’s disgustingly cute

One time they go to the arcade without the gang and just go ham. Betty tries for 20 minutes to get a stuffed animal from the claw machine and Darry offers to try and she’s like NO I PROMISE IMMA GET IT THIS TIME (she doesn’t). Then when she finally gives up Darry gets it first try and she’s simultaneously wanting to kick the machine in an act of pure frustration and also overjoyed because he get the cute stuffed horse she was trying to grab

Modern AU

They could spend a whole day at the zoo. Betty loves animals, Darry likes animals. There’s food. What else could you want 😂 Betty’s favorite animals are the elephants. Darry likes the grizzly bears.

This would be more a date that would include the gang but the absolute chaos that would be the two of them and the gang in an escape room. I could make a whole separate post on that (I might 😂)

Modern Betty goes nuts for Raising Canes. If Darry offers a takeout date 90% chance that’s what she suggests. Yk the ‘my girlfriend can’t decide where she wants to eat’ that doesn’t apply to her.

Early on when they first start dating they both sorta are like I wanna see you again but also I’m so tired and then Betty is like hear me out… we sit on your couch with blankets and watch TikToks. She drinks some wine he has a beer, it’s one of her favorite dates she’s ever had

I feel like Darry would like top golf, Betty is neutral on it but happy to go with him and they’re super cute the whole time.

Betty goes insane when he takes her to a farmers market. She is like buckle in because we’re SHOPPING. Darry is just content to be along for the ride 😂

My coral island farmer OC, Fazlyn Dirynhai Base on the convo, interaction and behavior , these are her character I came up with all info i have at the time. So Imma gonna put it here for the record for future reference?? since the game have presented main personality through text, context and subtext a lot. I need to keep track of her somehow. [contain SPOILERS about questline/heart scene, convo, interaction] Here I go.

Her name isn't her given name. (; Raj Convo). // I came up with the story that her legal name come from her nickname and her old first name, it started from she had the same name with her classmate. So, she's the one with the nickname for convenience. Then after that she kept found the incident recurring a lot, so she changed her nickname to her legal name for good. Her old first name is Lyn.

Speaker in Luke's shop is easily broken, she used to buy that speaker's brand before and it's broken in 6 months. (; Interact with top right shelf in Luke's shop.)

Anddddd, these are my headcanons for this character. Just base on my random guess and thoughts.

She was closer to Alice than Suki when they were kids.

At some point, I think Nina, Luke, and farmer had played together, but it just 1-2 times, so only Nina can remember that. Since Luke is too young to remember the farmer and haven't been contacted with, and the farmer played with Nina more than Luke and she still didn't remember her, she doesn't good with remembering and such.

Suki, Alice, Nina, Lily and the farmer was a childhood friend group.

She hadn't talked with Tavern siblings or blacksmith brother before, from the first convo they had.

Her hair and her blue eyes come from her mother side, her mother is from San franciskyo

Her grandparents who owned the farm are on her father side, so they should be Indonesian(?).

Her parents met in Pokyo and she grew up there. That's the reason she had Pokyo accent from Leah's convo.

Her first talk with Taco, the dialog is like, '[He smells a lot like Luke]', but she hadn't speak with Luke at that point. So, she kinda buffled a bit. 'Wait, who's Luke??'

Her first rescuer for collapsed after 2 AM is Luke, I remember this because it's happened in 2nd Spring in the Year 1. So, in Year 2, the farmer gave him the locket that day, 2nd Spring.

2nd Spring in Year 3, she changed her hair as celebration of sort?? idk, it's pretty coincidence. I just wanted to change something a bit about the hair and just noticed that it that day. huh.. Wonder what will happend if I continue playing until next year.

Oh please for a flashback day- David and Felix scene as he learns Mack is in labour and races back

“God damn, this one’s an asshole.” David mutters as he tries to maneuver the big dairy cow back through the Hoffman farm gates. 

“Yeah, that’s Betty. She’s an old, batty bitch.” One of the hands, Randy, tells David. 

“Pasture time?”

“Bob is fond of her.” 

“Rule number 1 of being a farmer…” David trails off.

“Dude, no shit.” Randy laughs.

“How many more we got?”

“About 15 further down the road I think. But if you need to take off, you can head out. The rest of the team should be here in five minutes or so.” Bob split David and Randy off to head West while the rest of the group headed South because they are the most experienced farmers and can work the smaller herd faster.

Headlights baring down on the two of them stop David’s response. This must be them. David rolls his shoulders back and lifts his hat off his head to push his black locks off his forehead. As the truck comes ripping up, David scowls. 

What the fuck is someone doing driving like that on these dark, country roads at night, especially after a big storm? Idiot.

It takes another few seconds for David to recognize the truck as one of his own. This gets him more pissed thinking one of his employees is fucking around until Felix leans out of the driver’s side window.

“Get in the truck!” He yells. David can’t help but chuckle at the wild way Felix leans out the window.

“Jesus, old man. Haven’t seen you hauling ass like that since you were trying to prove to me Fords are better then Chevys.”

“David, get the fuck in the truck.” The seriousness in Felix’s voice startles David. Whoa… David looks at Randy, who shrugs his shoulders. 

“What the hell crawled up your ass and died?” David mumbles, tossing his hands onto hips and popping one out for an inquisitive stance.

“David, I’m not asking you again. Get in the god damn truck!” Felix’s voice tightens further.

“Can I know why I’m getting in the god damn truck?” David asks. “You can be a little dramatic.” More chuckles between David and Randy ensure. Felix pauses for a moment, uttering something under his breath while he looks towards the sky, as if he is cursing God for his current predicament.

“You wanna see your baby born?” Felix finally says. All joking snaps out of David’s body as he stands up to his full height. Mack.

“What?” David stutters.

“Mrs. Mackenzie is in labor.”

“What the fu…” David runs around the truck immediately, hopping into the passenger seat. “Go! Go! Go!” David yells out as Felix turns the truck then leaves Randy behind in a cloud of dust. 

“You sure you don’t want to bust my nuts some more with Randy?” Felix sasses back as he cranks the steering wheel to turn back to the Carlson Farm.

“What the hell do you mean she’s in labor?” 

“I mean, she was keeled over in the driveway, very obviously in labor.” 

“Holy… why didn’t she call me!?” David asks, patting at his pockets. “Oh fuck.”

“Fucking dumbass.” Felix snaps, slapping David upside the head. It’s hard enough that David’s Coors hat pops off.

“Ow! Fuck!”

“You still don’t learn a god damn thing.” Felix shake this head. 

“Is she okay? Did you leave her alone!?

“Lo is with her. She is…” Felix trails off, looking over in the cab at David. The pure terror must be on David’s face because Felix is calmer when he speaks. “She’s getting through it. She’s tough, but you gotta get her and go.” Felix shakes his head slightly.

David goes quiet, hearing everything Felix isn’t saying. The seriousness in his tone is unmistakable. It’s like the time when he asked Felix if his mama was going to be okay and Felix has said “nothing is guaranteed. Enjoy the time you get.” The sinking feeling in David’s stomach mirrors that now.

“Wha… um. What was she like? Was she talking? Walking? How far apart is everything?”

“She was talking… loudly. And not comfortable.”

“She hasn’t been comfortable all day.” David swallows hard. Why didn’t he see this coming? All the signs were there. “Can I have your phone to call her?”

“I don’t have it on me.”

David tosses his hands up in the air like ‘you’ve got to be kidding me’.

“Just be ready.” Felix repeats. David can feel the truck accelerate harder forward. 

David begins to fidget in the passenger seat. He’s running his fingers through his hair. He’s bouncing his knees up and down. He scratches at his forearms and rubs at his stubble.

“This thing go any faster?” David asks with an angry sigh.

“No! It’s a piece of shit Chevy! Think about that next time you think Chevy is the right truck for the farm.”

“Okay.” David rolls his eyes, starting to breathe heavier now. He puts a hand to his forehead, pushing the brim of his hat up as the realization hits him.“Holy shit, I’m gonna be a dad. Holy shit. He’s coming. Fuck, I’m not ready.”

“You gotta be. The second you get out of this truck, you have got to be ready, David.” Felix tells him as he turns onto the long gravel driveway leading into the property. “That kid needs you to be, but more than that Mrs. Mackenzie is going to need that.”

David nods again, more forcefully this time as he swallows hard. The house comes into view. He can see through the front door to the living room where Mack’s back is turned away from him. Lorena is in front of her, crouched down and David doesn’t think about anything else.

He just rips open the truck door and runs to her.
